Baby Dinos by Matthew Jensen

Once upon a time there was a boy named Sam and he had a sister called Jo they went to a park with their Mother. This park was no park you play in it was a scary Dinosaur park. They found some Dinosaur eggs and thought lets have them. Then they ran to the car their Mother was waiting for them in the car she said hop in. They put the eggs in the boot of the car and forgot all about them. They hoped out of the car and a few hours latter the eggs hatched into Dinosaurs. The Dinosaurs ate the car of Sam’s Mothers. when Sam’s Mother saw the car she was furious she said what in the world happened to my car than she fainted.

Then Sam remembered the Dinosaurs eggs and he screamed the Dinosaurs eggs must have hatched. Sam looked high and low in his mothers car in till he found the baby Dinosaurs. Sam found them under a chair with lots and lots of his toys they were every where. Sam was surprised to see the Dinosaurs in a jar he grabbed the lid and put it on quick as he could. he said Jo did you put my toys under that chair? Jo said I didn’t why are you asking? Sam said because you were the last one with them. That was when they thought or said out loud or maybe yelled THE DINOSAURS!

Sam and his sister Jo looked at the Dinosaurs and thought AWW! they are super duper cute. The Dinosaurs are as smart as a alligator they pretend to be cute. Sam and Jo were so amazed that they sat done the jar and they decided to sit done on a chair. Sam had to look away he could not look at the Dinosaurs for long because they looked so sad and so cute Sam started to fill sorry for the naughty, nasty, sad and cute little Dinosaurs.

Sam called his Mother and asked if Jo and him could go play outside. Their Mother said yes then Sam asked if she could play outside with them. Sam and Jo looked at their Mother and said over and over again you won’t be sorry. So Sam, Jo and their Mother went out and played ball and swing and all kinds of other games. Something strange and incredible happened inside. The Dinosaurs ate the jar they then destroyed it and jumped in and out of the jar over and over again.

Then the Dinosaurs saw food the Dinosaurs fought and fought then they said to each other in baby Dinosaur language LET’S EAT IT! The Dinosaurs shared a apple then they ate some cheese, some meat, some cookies and drank or dove or swam in lots of Jelly juice. Then they felt sleepy they saw a box and thought it was their Mother so they went underneath the box and had a long nap.

Matthew Flinders

This is the first map of Australia called Australia
This is the first map of Australia called Australia

In the early nineteenth century, Australia remained largely uncharted, and doubt prevailed as to its unity as a continent. The 1801 expedition led by English mariner and cartographer Matthew Flinders (1774–1814), was groundbreaking in this respect. Flinders’ charting of the Australian coastline provided the first complete map outlining the continent, and his influence was decisive in changing its name from Terra Australis to Australia – a term ‘more agreeable to the ear’. Structured around daily geographical and astronomical observations, Flinders’ journals – published in 1814, the day before his death – are remarkable for their humanity and sense of humour. Started in 1801, they continue to include Flinders’ imprisonment by the French in the island of Mauritius between 1803 and 1810. The second volume tells of the discoveries made along the east and north coasts of the continent, and includes an account of Flinders’ captivity. An appendix details botanical discoveries.
