The Hen
The eggs you buy in the shop comes from a chicken that looks a bit like this hen. A hen is a type of chicken. Hen is what girl chickens are called when they are laying eggs.
Broody Chicken or Incubator
An egg can hatch into a chicken which is called a chick but the egg needs to be under a hen or in the incubator for twenty-one days super long time, this is a hen on the eggs.
Chick Hatching
This is a chick just hatching out of the egg.
A Chick
A chick is a cute type of chicken they are very fluffy NOT FURRY LIKE A DOG!
Pullet or Cockerel
After 5-6 weeks you can easily see if it is a pullet or a cockerel.
When a chick is 5-6 weeks old you look at the top of there head to see if their comb is large and red or pale and small.
Large and red ones are cockerels. A Cockerel is a young rooster.
The small and pale ones are pullets. A Pullet is a young girl chicken that is not ready to lay eggs.
Point of Lay
After 5 months the pullet is a point of lay which means is ready to lay eggs.
Whole Chicken
Then a few weeks later your cockerel can turn into a whole chicken like what you can buy at the shops.
After the cockerel is turned into a whole chicken it can be made into chicken nuggets just like these.
